The long awaited roll-out of MTN 4G LTE network has commenced across Nigeria, according to reports, MTN Nigeria’s subsidiary, Visafone, has started to test-run of its 4G/LTE service for internet users in Nigeria. Hence MTN has said that the test-run will only be available to existing Vistafone subscribers that have been provisioned on the 800 MHz band.
According to Amina Oyagbola:
“Our recent license acquisition further demonstrates our faith in the future of Nigeria, we believe in supporting the positive transformation of Nigeria and we have demonstrated this belief through the level of our investment since 2001, which currently stands at approximately $16 billion.”
Also as to when this 4G LTE will be available to all MTN subscribers, Richard Iweanoge:
“When we roll-out fully, especially with our 2.6 GHz spectrum, the launch will help to enhance customer experience for our over 60 million subscribers, while ensuring greater coverage, access, affordability and ultimately a smart lifestyle for everyone,”
When Will They Roll Out Fully?
Currently, no reports has been released on that but it’s 4G/LTE is already Live in Ibadan, Lagos and Abuja.
