“Hi Jack, I don’t know if you remember me…” emails again.

  • Asking for referrals is very easy and simple, simply search for a job on Linkedin
  • Beneath the job listing, you should see a “Ask for a referral” button.
  • Click LinkedIn Features at the top of your search results and click the checkbox next to In Your Network. Click Apply to apply the filter to your search results.

How You Can ‘Easily’ Ask for Referrals on LinkedIn.

  • Under each job title and summary, you’ll see how many of your 1st degree connections work at that company. Click on a job title to view the job details.
  • Once you click Ask for a referral, a pop-up window will appear with a list of your 1st-degree connections at the company. Click the Message button next to the connection you would like to ask for a referral from.
    • If you only have one 1st-degree at the company, you’ll be automatically taken to the pop-up window to send a message to your connection.
  • In the next pop-up window that appears, click Send to send a pre-populated message to your connection. You can also edit the message before sending. You’ll receive confirmation that your message was sent successfully.
